Angkumlum Unites for Sports and Independence: A Golden Jubilee Celebration

From September 14–17, 2025, the Angkumlum Estate played host to a vibrant Mini Sports Tournament to coincide with Papua New Guinea’s 50th Independence Anniversary Flag Raising Ceremony. The event brought together over 500 participants, including families, youth teams, local leaders, and sponsors, in a spirited celebration of national pride and community unity.

A moving flag-raising ceremony on September 16th, featuring traditional dances, cultural songs, and reflections from community elders.
Competitive matches in soccer, basketball, and touch rugby, with 43 teams representing Angkumlum and neighboring zones.
A community march led by students and youth, showcasing solidarity and enthusiasm.
